Briard Dog Pictures

The legs of these dogs are well boned, straight and never turned outward or inward. Dewclaws on the front legs may be optionally removed. The feet are oval in shape, with arched toes, well developed pads, and hard black nails. The tail of the Briard is long, well feathered, carried low in a slight curve, never above the back.

The outer coat of the Briard is coarse and hard. It makes a dry rasping sound when touched. It lies flat and falls in long waving locks. The coat of a healthy dog is shiny and lively. The eyebrows arch up in a curve. The longest hair on the shoulders of the Briard can reach over 6 inches. All coat colors are accepted in this breed except solid white. The most common colors are black, tawny, and gray. Deep shades are preferred. Bi-color and tri-color dogs are accepted, but spotted coat is a disqualification.

Temperament is very important in this breed. Purebred Briards are hearty, spirited, intelligent, faithful and obedient. Excellent memory and desire to please make them good guards and family pets. Briard Dog pictures cannot tell you much about the personality of these dogs.
